Introduction

This unique Masters course is offered by Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering to cater for current and emerging global skills shortage in Mainframe Computing. Graduates are equipped to design, develop and manage mainframe computing systems and infrastructure and to integrate mainframe computing with other elements of enterprise architecture to produce reliable, secure and effectively managed service-oriented computing.

An elective strand allows students to specialise in areas complementary to mainframe computing including Software Engineering, Network Computing, Information Systems or Business Informatics. This course is conducted by the university with an industrial partner, Global Online Learning (GOL).

The Master of Information Technology in Mainframe Computing (Advanced) course has two parts of 24 credit points each, and a student will be allowed to progress to the second part only if he/she attains an average grade of CR or better in their first 24 credit points of the course. The students not meeting this requirement will be given the option to exit with the course 900AA Master of Technology in Mainframe Computing or 846AA Master of Information Technology in Mainframe Computing after additional study to complete these courses.
