Introduction
The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies gives students an opportunity to attain interdisciplinary understanding of global issues. The course introduces students to a range of academic field and approaches its themes and topics from a variety of multi- disciplinary perspectives such as Development Studies; Anthropology; Communications; Economics; Film; Geography; History; Law; Literature; Philosophy; Religious Studies; Sociology and World Languages and Cultures.
Foreign language studies in Chinese, French, Japanese and Spanish provide students with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with different cultures and include flexible option to study a language abroad, that can be linked with overseas work experience. Students can also enhance their language skills by studying academic English. Language studies enhance the employability of graduates locally as well as globally.
Upon completion of this degree students will have the analytical skills required to understand and evaluate the global socio-economic impact on cultures and communities.

Applicants must meet normal University requirements for admission to an undergraduate course or hold qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the University's Admissions Committee.

International Studies graduates are employable in a range of jobs in Australia as well as other parts of the world due to their highly developed communication skills; awareness of cultural dynamics in a workplace and the ability to work across cultures and communities.
Course Duration
6 semesters full-time: 12 semesters part-time; maximum 20 semesters. Students undertaking an international exchange program may require an additional semester.
Honours
High performing students may be eligible for enrolment in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) course, from which they graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (Honours).
Internships
The internships program is a unique feature of the course, facilitating a smooth transition from student life to work culture. Students have the option to work with a partner organization locally, internationally or in a simulated work situation on campus with academic and industry mentors.
International Exchange Opportunities
A highly recommended international exchange semester as part of the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies component of this course provides first-hand international experience to students.
