Introduction

The degree in Sports Management provides students with the knowledge and skills involved in becoming a competent sports manager. This degree (established in 1981) was the first of its kind in Australia and has since become the leader in the field of professional sport management education.

Additional Admission Requirements

Structured work experience is a requirement of this course and is provided through individual or group placements with sports organisations as part of the requirements of individual units. Students will be required to complete AFP police checks.

Assumed Knowledge

ACT: Mathematics (T) and English (T).

NSW: Mathematics and English Advanced.

Graduates are eligible for membership with the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (ACHPER), the Institute of Sport Management and the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand.

Graduate Employment

Graduates can expect to find employment in sports development in Commonwealth and State Government departments of sport and recreation, marketing and public relations in the private sector, and management of sports, recreation or leisure clubs and centres.

Course Duration

Standard six semesters full-time: equivalent part-time; maximum 20 semesters.

Honours

High performing students may be eligible for enrolment in the Bachelor of Sport Studies (Honours).
