Introduction

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science provides a scientific understanding of the structure and function of the human body and the interrelationships between health and disease. It is the study of the structure and function of the human body and how humans interact with, and respond to their environment. It focuses on developing an understanding of the links between, and the intersections among the many facets of human biology. Required units span a wide range of scientific disciplines including biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, human anatomy and physiology, pathobiology, data analysis and genetics. In addition to the compulsory core units students can choose from a wide variety of approved majors/minors depending on the student's particular interest. Majors/minors are available in a wide range of fields including psychology, biological chemistry, ecology, sports science, sociology, management, computer programming, law and foreign languages.

The course is suitable for a career where a broad general scientific knowledge of the human body is required. The course is also suitable for preparative studies into a variety of graduate courses, for example, medicine, physiotherapy, pharmacy or science teaching.

The final fee charged is based on the proportion of 24 credit points in which a student enrols.
