ome stage 0:15 in our lives experience a challenge to 0:16 our mental health 0:18 take a moment to think what would your 0:20 life be like if you couldn't go to work 0:23 see your friends or care for your family 0:26 for many people with mental illness this 0:28 is their reality 0:29 which is where an occupational therapist 0:31 can help 0:32 occupational therapists help you to do 0:33 those things that you want to do need to 0:35 do and are expected to do 0:38 occupational therapists can deliver 0:39 evidence-based care to people of all 0:41 ages 0:43 the problem is is that there isn't 0:44 enough occupational therapist to meet 0:46 demand 0:47 of the 27 000 occupational therapists 0:50 registered here in australia only 12 0:52 work in mental health 0:54 and that number is not growing 0:56 my research aims to address this 0:59 working with occupational therapists and 1:01 with consumers of mental health services 1:03 i aim to identify ways that we can grow 1:05 the occupational therapy workforce 1:08 everybody has the right to receive the 1:11 care that they need in the time that 1:12 they need it 1:14 by growing the occupational therapy 1:16 workforce we can contribute to 1:18 delivering health care services that 1:19 focus not on illness but on recovery 1:22 that focus on those meaningful everyday 1:24 occupations that make up our lives in 1:26 which go a long way to making you 1:29 uniquely you 1:33 [Music
