Student Success Programs
The Student Equity and Participation team has a range of Student Success programs aimed to improve access, participation, retention and success of students from targeted equity groups. We assist the following groups underrepresented in Higher Education:
- First in family to attend further education
- Students from Rural and Remote backgrounds
- Students of a Refugee background or those on a Humanitarian Visa
- Students from low-income backgrounds
- Students from the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS)
- Students from the University of Canberra College (UCC)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
We offer one-on-one appointments to both commencing and continuing students, providing support and referrals. We work alongside students, empowering them to navigate their university journey successfully through an increasingly proactive approach to their learning and engagement.
The Student Support Program team offers virtual appointments (through Microsoft Teams). To book an appointment please click here.
Our Refugee Transition Program offers a blend of academic and social support for students of a refugee background and for those on a Humanitarian Visa. Students in this program are eligible for one-to-one appointments, one-on-one tutoring and initial financial support where necessary.

In partnership with UC Careers, our First Year Career Resilience and Success Program offers individual careers advice, additional employability skills and pastoral care. The program helps build confidence, capacity and capabilities, whilst also linking students with existing support services and providing them with access to part-time employment opportunities aligned with their career goals.
