Living beyond cancer

Welcome to UC PACES Living with and Beyond Cancer

University of Canberra researchers are working in partnership with the ACT Health Cancer Regional Hospital, The Calvary Hospital, National Capital Private Hospital, and the ICON Cancer Centre in Canberra to improve quality of life, recovery and rehabilitation for people living with cancer and their families.

The PACES Group aims to deliver a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary cancer care which is delivered within our UC Wellness Cancer Clinic in collaboration with the ICON Cancer Centre in Canberra..

The UC PACES Cancer Recovery Fund supports research to make a meaningful difference to the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions of health for people affected by cancer, and provides financial support for people diagnosed with cancer who are unable to attend work while receiving treatment, and during recovery, to support their day-to-day costs which can really add up for families.

Unfortunately, despite routine clinical follow-up with cancer healthcare professionals many individuals living with cancer in our communities locally, nationally, and internationally can experience profound unmet supportive care needs (commonly related to psychological, physical, sexual, health system/information, cognitive, social, family, practical daily living, and patient-clinician information needs), all of which can directly impact quality of life, and recovery.

Our PACES Research Team brings together all cancer care multidisciplinary experts, including researchers, clinicians, consumers, cancer organisations, and students, to address the issues that matter most to patients and their families, and address unmet needs to optimise timely, person-centred, and accessible care to promote “wellness and recovery”.
