The Faculty provides high quality postgraduate research courses at the Masters and Doctoral (Phd and EdD) levels as well as preparatory and bridging Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma courses. These courses give students the opportunity to make a contribution to knowledge and professional practice through advanced and specialised study in the fields of education, applied science, mathematics, and information technology. The Faculty shares the University's vision of professional education led by research and scholarship.
All postgraduate research students are closely associated with a research institute or research cluster. These include: Australian Institute for Sustainable Communities; The Education Institute; Inspire Centre; Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE); National Centre for Forensic Studies (NCFS); Centre for Research in Therapeutic Solutions (CResTS); the Human-Centered Technology Research Centre (HCT); STEM Education Research Centre (SERC) Cooperative Research Centre of eWater (CRC eWater); Cooperative Research Centre of Invasive Animals (CRC IA); Collaborative Research Network on Murray-Darling Futures (CRN); and Mathematical Physics and Geometry (IMADI).
The postgraduate program emphasises cross-disciplinary and practice-based research. This ensures that the research responds to contemporary challenges of professional practice across all educational settings and aligns with the Faculty research institutes and clusters that have strong links with government, industry and other private bodies. The output of all research reflects the relevance of the work in the broader context of society, the workplace and academic.
On enrolment, postgraduate research students are assigned a supervisory panel and have access to extensive support including research methodology courses, research training support, workspace, equipment and funding to support research, library and internet access support and attendance at research colloquia, conference and seminars.
