Biography
Dr Mikhailovich is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Australian Institute for Sustainable Communities. The Institute aims to contribute to sustainable social, cultural and economic development by providing research and professional development services to communities, government and the private sector.
Between 2005 and 2008 Dr Mikhailovich was the Deputy Director of The Healthpact Research Centre for Health Promotion and Wellbeing, a multidisciplinary centre in the Faculty of Health at the University of Canberra. Over the past 15 years she has focused her research on significant social issues, maintaining an interest in working with marginalised and disadvantaged populations.
Dr Mikhailovich has undertaken a broad range of cross-disciplinary research in the area of community health and education and has developed expertise in program evaluation. Her doctoral thesis was in the area of violence against women and her subsequent work has included research in areas such as sexual assault, domestic violence, alcohol use, adolescent sexual risk behaviour, health promoting schools, mental health, suicide prevention, and prisoner health and wellbeing.
Dr Mikhailovich has experience in research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities. Her more recent research has focused on international development working with women subsistence farmers in Papua New Guinea to improve family livelihoods.
