Biography
A University of Canberra graduate, Cathy is also a Canberra local who, after completing her secondary schooling, studied a Bachelor of Education in Primary Teaching from 2008-2011. Following this she embarked on her teaching career in Canberra’s south, teaching upper primary.
Seeking a change, Cathy joined the Australian Defence Force as an Education specialist in 2016 and has undertaken a variety of roles relating to instructional design, curriculum development, the management and implementation of digital learning technologies. Since 2020, she has worked as an instructor and learning culture advisor at Australia’s premier leadership college.
Both career paths have been driven by a passion for, and curiosity about the science of learning. She completed a Master of Education (Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice) from Flinders University in 2018, which sparked interest and future research aspirations in the field of self-regulated learning.
As her work allowed Cathy to return home to Canberra in 2020, she joined the Faculty of Education as a sessional tutor and research assistant in 2021, and accepted a part time lecturer position in 2022, splitting her time between both the university and her Government work.
