David Healey was a sworn police officer in the Australian Federal Police from 2002 - 2017 and was a police officer in uniform, a member of the tactical response unit and a lawyer in counter terrorism and operations law. He now owns and runs his own successful legal practice. He is also a Legal Officer in the Army Reserves where he holds the rank of Major. He is a proud sponsor of the Indigenous Law student award which is very close to his heart.

Adjunct Assistant Professor David Healey is a proud product of the University of Canberra graduating with a law degree with honours. He took up a teaching role in 2009 at the Law School and since then he has taught and convened Transnational Criminal Law, Criminology (Convener 2012 - 2018), Criminal Process (Convener 2012 - 2016), Forensic Evidence and the Law (Convener 2012 - 2014), Criminal Law and Procedure (Guest lecturer/Tutor 2014 - 2016) (Convener 2016 - 2018), Criminal Investigations (Convener 2016), Evidence (Co-Convenor 2018 - 2019) and was the Convenor of the Bachelor of Justice Studies (Convenor 2017 - 2018).
