Biography

Paul Munden studied English and Related Literature at the University of York, in England, and was a founder member of the UK's National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE), of which he became Director. For his Doctorate in Professional Studies by Public Works he was awarded the Ken Goulding Prize for Professional Excellence from Middlesex University.

He has worked as conference poet for the British Council on topics including predictive medicine, the looting of cultural artefacts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the role of cultural relations in addressing conflict. He edited the British Council anthology, Feeling the Pressure: poetry and science of climate change (2008).

He is associate editor of Axon, and co-editor of Meniscus, the international literary journal, also general editor of Writing in Education and Writing in Practice: The Journal of Creative Writing Research.

Analogue/Digital, his book of new and selected poems, is forthcoming from Smith/Doorstop (UK).

Paul is working as Program Manager and Coordinator, Collaborative Projects, for the International Poetry Studies Institute (IPSI) within the Centre for Creative and Cultural Research.

Research Interests

  • Research to date has focused primarily on the work of poets and other writers in schools, and the development of creative writing as a discipline in UK universities. Current interests include poetry in partnership with other arts and as a medium for biographical study.
