University of Canberra (Courses and Awards) Statute 2010
AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY
Table of Provisions
1. This Statute may be cited as the University of Canberra (Courses and Awards) Statute 2010.
2. This Statute commences on the date of Notification.
3. The Courses and Awards Statute 1995 is repealed.
4. In this Statute, unless the contrary intention appears:
"Academic Board" means the Academic Board of the University established by section 19 of the Act;
“Act” means the University of Canberra Act 1989 (ACT);
"Council" means the Council of the University established by section 9 of the Act;
“Records Officer” means the officer of the University appointed under subsection 5(2) of this Statute;
“Vice-Chancellor” means the person appointed Vice-Chancellor and President under section 25 of the Act.

(1) There is to be a register known as the Register of Courses, containing such particulars as are required to be entered in the register by rules made under this Statute.
(2) The Vice-Chancellor may appoint an officer of the University to be Records Officer to keep the Register of Courses and perform other functions to administer courses and awards as specified in the Statute or Rules.

(1) The Academic Board may declare a course of study of the University to be a graduate course of study or an undergraduate course of study for the purposes of this Statute or for the purposes of the University of Canberra Admission Rules 2010 or both.
(2) A course of study declared under subsection (1) is taken to be specified as a course of study in the University of Canberra Courses and Awards (Courses of Study) Rules 2010.

(1) The Council may make rules, not inconsistent with the Act or a Statute, with respect to any matter necessary or convenient for carrying out or giving effect to this Statute and with respect to, or incidental to:
(a) the courses of study of the University;
(b) the awards of the university; and
(c) the requirements for, and the formalities and ceremonies relating to, the conferring of awards of the University.
The foregoing Statute is made by Council under section 40 of the University of Canberra Act 1989. The Statute was approved by Council at meeting No. 135 on 14 May 2010.

In making this Statute the University had regards to the provisions of section 40B(1)(b) of the Human Rights Act 2004 (ACT).
