Citation

1. This Statute may be cited as the Honorary Degree Statute 2008.

Repeal

2. The Honorary Degree Statute 1992 is repealed.

Commencement

3. This Statute commences on the date of notification.

Honorary degrees

4. The Council may admit a person to an honorary degree of the University, in accordance with rules made under this Statute.

Rules

5. The Council may make rules, not inconsistent with the Act or a Statute, with respect to any matter necessary or convenient for carrying out or giving effect to this Statute and with respect to:

• the requirements for, and the formalities and ceremonies relating to the conferring of, honorary degrees of the University; and
• any other matter incidental to such requirements, formalities and ceremonies.
