The Statute and Rules database includes all Statutes and Rules of the University currently in force.

New statutes and rules sometimes replace existing statutes and rules. The existing statute or rule is “revoked” from the date the new statute or rules comes into force. The old statute or rule is repealed and no longer has any force.

In some cases the whole of a statute or rule is not replaced but instead a part of it may be amended. An amending statute or rule follows the same approval path as a new statute or rule but its objective is to amend part of a principal statute or rule rather than replace it. The principal statute or rule is still the one in force, but in an amended form. Once the principal statute or rule is amended the amending statute or rule no longer has any force.

Although repealed and amending statutes and rules are no longer in force they do represent part of the legislative history of the University and do allow for comparisons between new and old statutes and rules and permit the identification of changes to principal statutes or rules.

This database was established in 2007 and includes all statutes and rules repealed since January 2007 and all statutes and rules which amended a principal statute or rule since January 2007. Paper copies of repealed or amending statutes and rules prior to 2007 are available from the Council secretariat.
