Elections to Academic Board

Background

The University of Canberra Act 1989 (ACT) provides that Academic Board membership includes:

Section 20 Constitution of Board

The Board consists of the following members:

(e) the other members of the academic staff that are specified in, or chosen as provided by, the Statutes

(f) the students of the University that are elected by students in accordance with the Statutes;

Elections for professorial members of Academic Board are governed by the University of Canberra Election of Professorial Members of Academic Board Rules 2010.

Elections for academic staff members of Academic Board are governed by the University of Canberra Election of Staff Members of Academic Board Rules 2010.

Elections for student members of Council are governed by the University of Canberra Election of Student Members of Academic Board Rules 2010.

Nominations and Elections

Student members of Academic Board are elected for one year terms; staff for two year terms. The term normally begins on 1 January of the year after election. Nominations are normally called for in October and close in early November. This permits time for a contested election if required and the induction of new members prior to the beginning of their term.

Details of current members and their terms of office are recorded on the Academic Board Membership webpage.

Notice of Elections

Notice of forthcoming Academic Board elections will be posted on the University's Elections website.
