These programs aim to raise participants’ skills and confidence to succeed, both academically and professionally.
The programs provide intensive Academic English tuition for specific groups of students, 20 hours per week for 4 or more weeks prior to studies in UC degree courses. These weeks are followed by ongoing language tuition during the students' degree course studies.
Ongoing tuition during the degree focuses on helping participants in course assignments, as well as in the requirements of their future careers.
Although the courses are primarily concerned with academic reading, writing and listening skills, cultural outings are also included so that students can learn more about Australian culture.
Examples of preparatory English include English for Lawyers studying Masters of Law, and English for Nurses studying an In-Service Program.
