The University of Canberra has been offering English language courses continuously since 1969 and is one of the longest established English centres in Australia. Many alumni of these programs have reached very senior positions in business, diplomacy, politics and education, and are using their English in high-level international forums.

ELICOS at the University of Canberra offers General English, the Pre-Access English Course, the English Access Program, the Postgraduate Preparation Program, and preparation for the IELTS test. English for other Specific Purposes can be offered to sufficient numbers of students. In January, there is a summer school, and a five-week IELTS Preparation course.

Course Length

Courses are taught over nine 5-week modules each year.

Our English for academic purposes courses, the English Access Program (Undergraduate) and the Postgraduate Preparation Program (PPP) run for 10 to 20 weeks depending upon your level of English.  General English is offered from 5 to 45 weeks.
