Staff Notice No 99/13
New arrangements for Research Office and Secretariat
As one outcome of the report of Steering Committee on the Organisation of Administrative Staff I have decided to make some changes to the central administration.
The personal assistants to the Vice-Chancellor (Mrs Mattiazzi), Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Ms Green) and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (Ms Simmonds), and the Vice-Chancellor's Policy Adviser (Ms Wise) will move from the Secretariat and Planning unit to the Executive.
Following the transfer of PDA activities to the University of Canberra College I am merging the residual Research Office and the Secretariat and Planning unit into one area to be known simply as the Secretariat. The Secretariat, which previously sat apart from the divisional structure, will become part of the Corporate Services Division and its functions will be as before with the addition of the Research Office's present responsibilities. Graeme Dennett will continue to head the Secretariat.
The relationship between the Secretariat and the Executive will remain the same. The Executive will continue to use and rely upon Secretariat staff for executive and secretariat support, but the Secretariat will be resourced and managed through the Corporate Services Division.
DON AITKIN
Vice-Chancellor
