Mary Hutchinson

Mary Hutchison is an adjunct lecturer in community studies and teaches community development subjects in the Bachelor of Community Education.

She specialises in community involvement in public history, public art and other creative representations of place and identity. She is the co-author, with Annie Bolitho, of Out of the Ordinary: Inventive ways of bringing Communities, their Stories and Audiences to light.

In her work as a professional writer and social historian, Mary has generated and supported a variety of community writing and publishing activities. Her research interests include working with stories and writing as an approach to community building, histories of the relationship between people and place, and life stories.
