Barbara Chevalier
Barbara began her professional life as a clinical psychologist trained in England. After emigrating to Australia in 1975, she worked with people with an intellectual disability before becoming a community counsellor and educator in non-government and government settings, specialising in women's health and empowerment, stress management and communication skills.
Tertiary Teaching:
She has been teaching at the University of Canberra since 1988 in health promotion and more recently in adult and community education and community development. She has developed extensive local networks through coordinating and supervising student placements and field projects for 14 years. Her current teaching and research focus is sustainable communities.
Interests and Skills:
Her particular areas of interest and expertise are: project design, implementation and evaluation; qualitative and innovative methods of consultation and data analysis; vocational counselling and group facilitation. Her greatest passion is helping other people to find and follow their passion, and bring their whole self, including their spirituality, into their work.
