International Student Support Services

All international students are part of the wider structure of the University and as such can make use of all University facilities and services available to the entire student body. However the University also recognises that a student studying in a foreign country may have some additional and different needs - so to this end we have provided additional services for international students to help them make the transition more smoothly. These special services include the following:

International Office

The International Office is your first "port of call" in Australia plus your ongoing support service. If any difficulties arise the staff of the International Office can help point you in the right direction - whether these be difficulties surrounding studies, courses, visas, finance etc. The small and friendly team will assist you in any way it can.

Reception Services

If you advise the International Office of your travel details and time of arrival enough time in advance, we can arrange for the following:

Orientation and Registration

After arrival, all new international students take part in an orientation program which includes advice on the following:

International Student Advisor

The International Student Advisor provides new international students with individual assistance in settling into life in Australia, especially with finding accommodation. The Advisor provides ongoing support and is the first point of contact for international students with any difficulties that may arise during their stay here. Contact is informal and personal.

Religious Facilities

There is a Muslim prayer room on campus and a university bus is organised to take Muslim students to the Canberra Mosque for the Friday Salat. Information concerning Halal meat is also obtainable from the Imam. A Christian Prayer Room on campus serves as a meeting point for several Christian groups including both Catholic and Protestant groups. Anglican and Catholic clergy are available on campus on certain days. The International Student Advisor will put students in contact with other religious groups in Canberra if required.
