The Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Awards

We are pleased to announce the opportunity for UC students to apply for the Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Award.

The Prime Ministers Australia Asia Endeavour Awards are prestigious Awards that recognize the best and brightest scholars from Australia and Asia. They provide the unique opportunity for postgraduates and undergraduates to not only undertake international study, but also internships or work placements.

Award Benefits

  • Up to AUD $40,000-60,000 towards travel and establishment allowances, tuition, internship contributions and travel insurance.

Eligible Programs and Fields of Study

  • Bachelor, Masters and PHD in all fields

The aims of the Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Awards are to build the relationship between Australia and Asia through:

  • the development of internationally-aware, skilled future leaders;
  • building human capital within organisations and contributing to productivity gains and innovations; and
  • the establishment of enduring education and professional linkages.

Note: All applicants for the Prime Ministers Australia Asia Endeavour Awards must be nominated by their home university.

These scholarships are open to students who wish to study and do a work placement in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam.

Eligibility requirements

Australian applicants for the Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Awards must meet the following eligibility requirements.

  1. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia and reside in Australia. Applicants must not be studying, living or working in the proposed host country.
  2. Applicants holding dual citizenship or permanent residency status in their proposed host country are ineligible to apply.
  3. Applicants for the Undergraduate Awards must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree at the time of application and demonstrate high academic achievement. 
  4. Applicants for the Postgraduate Awards must have completed an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a postgraduate degree at the time of application, and demonstrate high academic achievement.
  5. Applicants must provide the supporting documentation (see below for supporting documentation requirements).
  6. Applicants must be enrolled in and nominated by their Australian university.
  7. Applicants must not have held an Endeavour Research Fellowship or Endeavour Executive Award in 2008 or 2009.

The Awards will support the Awardees to undertake an international study or research component related to their undergraduate or postgraduate qualification at their home institution. There are 2 stages to the scholarship.

Stage 1 - Study Component
  • Up to 12 months in duration
  • Minimum 1 semester (6 months)
Stage 2 - Internship Component
  • For a minimum of two months and up to 12 months
  • Mandatory for undergraduate students
  • Strongly encouraged for postgraduate students

Applicants do not need to have their internship confirmed at the time of application.
