Scholarships and Loans

UC Student Exchange has a number of scholarships and loans on offer for students planning to study on exchange. We are constantly looking to increase these offerings and it is in your best interest to visit the UC Scholarships page and contact your host university to complete your funding research.

Overseas Study HELP (OS-HELP)

OS-HELP Interest-free government loans provide assistance to undergraduate students to undertake some of their course of study overseas.

Eligibility

  • An Australian citizen or the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa;
  • Commonwealth supported (HECS) student enrolled in an undergraduate course of study;
  • Selected by the University of Canberra to receive an OS‑HELP loan.
  • Studying at a recognized institution.
  • Have completed 1 year (equivalent full-time student load 24cps) of their course of study
  • Have units to the value of at least 1 full time semester to the value of 12 cps remaining on completion of their study outside Australia.


OS‑HELP is available for study periods of less than six months, but students cannot receive an OS‑HELP loan more than once for a given six-month period. Students may only receive a maximum of two OS‑HELP loans over their lifetime.

ISEP Scholarships

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) funds the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP). The University of Canberra distributes the scholarships on behalf of DEEWR to selected students studying at a partner institution in a country for which UC has awarded the funding of $5000.

Recipients must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and must be studying at undergraduate level. The scholarships are awarded to eligible students once students are accepted into the host university and have completed a UC Study Abroad and Exchange ISEP Scholarship Application, which will be given to the appropriate students.

You will be considered for an award if you apply to one of the following partner institution or one of the following countries listed below. Please note that we have a limited number of scholarships for each institution.

Clea Rose Travel Award

The Family of Clea Rose is generously offering one scholarship per year to encourage students to undertake a study abroad experience as part of their University of Canberra study program. This scholarship is valued at $2,000 and is open to all Undergraduate students. Please see the Clea Rose Travel Award information.

Country Based Scholarships

Many countries and embassies offer scholarships to students. Please check the UC scholarships board or contact the UC scholarships office. If you study a language speak to your lecturer; they may know of specific language scholarships. There are also community-based scholarships available through organisations like Rotary.

The Prime Minister's Australia Asia Awards

We are pleased to announce the opportunity for UC students to apply for the Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Award. The Prime Ministers Australia Asia Endeavour Awards are prestigious Awards that recognize the best and brightest scholars from Australia and Asia, aiming to build the relationship between Australia and Asia. They provide the unique opportunity for postgraduates and undergraduates to not only undertake international study, but also internships or work placements. Up to AUD $40,000-60,000 is available towards travel and establishment allowances, tuition, internship contributions and travel insurance.
