The University offers assistance to Students by way of the Student Financial Assistance Scheme to assist with University/Study related costs, such as Student Residences tariffs, purchase of Text Books and/or materials relative to Course work.

Other requirements are considered on an Individual basis.

Who is eligible?

We consider applications for any fully enrolled Australian student. If you are working and have the capacity to pay the loan, no guarantor is necessary. If you're not working a guarantor may be required.

How does it work?

Once you have enrolled in your course and have paid all applicable fees and have an Invoice from Residences or other third party, you need to complete the loan application form (available from Financial Services Room 1B104)

You then need to arrange an interview with our Student Financial Assistance Officer and lodge your application. The Financial Officer will usually make a decision about your loan during the interview.

What deposit is necessary?

In most cases no deposit is required.

How many payments are required?

The number of payments (and hence the amount and the frequency of payment) is established through discussions between you and the Financial Officer. Payment frequency is fortnightly although more frequent payments can be made without penalty.

All we ask is that your final payment be made before the end of the teaching period and on the agreed final date of your loan contract.

What interest is charged?

We offer loans as a service to our students, not as a profit making exercise. But to cover our costs we need to charge a small interest rate. The current rate is 9.0% pa over the life of a loan (usually semester/teaching period).
