Exam Misconduct

Where misconduct is suspected and/or detected, the Examinations Coordinator has the authority to determine what the immediate action should be. Candidates are warned that the University will take action under the Student Conduct Rules against any student misconduct during an examination.

Where appropriate, a report on the breach will be forwarded to the Dean of Faculty in which the student is enrolled, with copies to the Examiner of the unit. The Dean of Faculty may request the matter to be dealt with by the Student Conduct Committee.  The rules and penalties relating to examination misconduct can be found at:  Student Conduct Rules 2007

If you have been found to have breached the these rules the following actions will occur.

A report regarding this incident, along with any supporting documentation, will be forwarded to the Faculty Associate Dean of Education and the unit convenor responsible for the administration of the unit.

The relevant Faculty Associate Dean will contact you to arrange a time to discuss the incident.

The Faculty Associate Dean will advise you of the outcome and may recommend one of the following:
(a) decide to take no further action in relation to the matter; or
(b) after consulting the Student Conduct Officer, conduct a Summary Inquiry into the matter; or
(c) draw the matter to the attention of the Vice-Chancellor;

In the meantime you should attend any other scheduled examination.

The Dean of Students and the Students’ Association are available to advise students who are concerned with possible breaches of the Rules.

If you have a personal situation that you need to discuss you may contact the University’s Health and Counselling Centre on 6201 2351.  They have professional counsellors available for you to discuss your situation.

If the University has not contacted you within two months of the incident occurring you should contact the Examinations Office.
