University of Canberra SMS Information
The University uses SMS for a variety of functions. Students can receive their results via SMS and be contacted regarding important administrative reminders.
Below are a list of recently sent message with links to more information.
Enrolments and Fees Information 30 August 2011
SMS Message: UC SMS: Please check your student email for important enrolment and fees info. Go to www.canberra.edu.au/sms for more info.
- You have not completed your HECS-Help Form. If you are a Commonwealth Supported student you must complete a Commonwealth Assistance form, even if you pay your fees in full – the online form is available on MyUC: Self Enrolment, Commonwealth Assistance Form. A hard copy form is available at the Student Centre.
- You are a HECS-Help student who has nominated to pay fees in full, but you have not paid and not provided your Tax File Number
- Your are a HECS-Help student who has nominated to defer your fees but you have not supplied a Tax File Number and have not made a payment;
- You are a Permanent Resident who has not paid your fees or you are a permanent Resident who has only made a partial payment;
- You are a Full Fee Payer who may be eligible for FEE-Help but have not registered for FEE-Help
- You have nominated FEE-Help, but have not provided your Tax File Number or paid in full.
GRADUATION INFORMATION 4 March 2011
What this means: You have been identified as eligible or potentially eligible to graduate at the Graduation Ceremonies to be held at Parliament House on 31 March and 01 April 2011, but have not yet responded to your invitation. You can log on to MyUC if you have your UC ID number and Password and select the Graduations tab and then Invitation/Response from the menu OR email graduation@canberra.edu.au and include your UC Student ID number.
The final deadline for registering your response to attend graduation is Monday, 7th March. If you do not respond you will not be able to attend and you will be conferred in absentia. Guest tickets will be available for sale to the general public on Tuesday, 8th March until 18th March (or until sold out) and can be purchased from Canberra Ticketing. ENROLMENTS AND FEES INFORMATION
SMS Message: UCSMS: You have not completed your HECS-HELP form. Complete this form by 4:30 Friday 4/3/11 or you will be discontinued. Call 1300 301 727 for help.
What this means: You have not completed your HECS-Help Form. If you are a Commonwealth Supported student you must complete a Commonwealth Assistance form, even if you pay your fees in full – the online form is available on MyUC: Self Enrolment, Commonwealth Assistance Form. A hard copy form is available at the Student Centre. If you hold a Commonwealth Supported Place, completion of this form is a requirement, even if intend to pay your fees upfront. Failure to complete this form will result in your course being discontinued.
SMS Message: UCSMS: You have not provided your TFN. Submit yours to the Student Centre by 4:30 Friday 4/3/11 or you will be discontinued. Call 1300 301 727 for help.
What this means: You are a HECS-Help student who has nominated to pay fees in full, but you have not paid and not provided your Tax File Number (TFN). If you have not provided a TFN, you must ensure all fees are paid in full by the census date or your course will be discontinued.
SMS Message: UCSMS: U have not provided a TFN or paid in full. Supply TFN 2 Student Centre or pay by 4:30 Fri 4/3/11 or you will be discontinued. Call 1300 301 727 for help.
What this means: You have nominated FEE-Help, but have not provided your Tax File Number or paid in full
or,
you are a HECS-Help student who has nominated to defer your fees but you have not supplied a Tax File Number and have not made a payment. If you have not provided a TFN, you must ensure all fees are paid in full by the census date or your course will be discontinued.
SMS Message: UCSMS: You have not paid tuition fees in full. Pay by 4:30 Fri 4/3/11 or you will be discontinued. Call 1300 301 727 for help.
What this means:
You are a Permanent Resident who has not paid your fees or you are a permanent Resident who has only made a partial payment
or,
You are a Full Fee Payer who may be eligible for FEE-Help but have not registered for FEE-Help. Please ensure all fees are paid in full or (if you are eligible) that you have register for FEE-HELP (on MyUC: Self Enrolment, FEE-HELP) by the census date or your course will be discontinued.
What this means: You have been identified as belonging to one of the categories below. The email sent to your student email will provide more information. Please contact the Student Centre on 1300 301 727 or email student.centre@canberra.edu.au if you require further information.

ENROL NOW FOR WINTER TERM, 2011
SMS Message: UC SMS: Don't forget to enrol in units for Winter Term now. Classes start 14 June, online enrolment open until 17 June. More info at www.canberra.edu.au/sms
What this means: For units available in Winter Term go to http://www.canberra.edu.au/courses-units/winter-term/units You can enrol online and set up your timetable now - classes start on Tuesday, 14 June. Online enrolment is available up until the end of week 1, 17 June, if you want to add or change your units.
It is recommended that you enrol in a maximum of 2 units in Winter as the units are taught in intensive mode over 7 weeks. If you have any questions, check the online support centre AskUC or call 1300 301 727.

Outstanding Fees for Semester 1, 2011
SMS Message: Outstanding Fees
What this means: If you are a Permanent Visa Holder you will have received a Domestic/Commonwealth Supported rate, however you are not entitled to a HECS-HELP loan, or to the 20% discount when paying your tuition fees, and you must pay your tuition fees in full by the Census date. If fees are not received by the Census Date (5 March) then your enrolment will be cancelled.
Commonwealth Assistance Notice - Australian Citizen
SMS Message: UC SMS: u have not completed a Com. Assist. Form. Under gov law it must b complete by census date 4/3 or ur enrolment will b discontinued. More: uc.edu.au/sms
What this means: Our records show that you have not completed the Commonwealth Assistance Notice for your enrolled course. This must be completed whether you are paying up front or deferring. Under government legislation this must be completed by the census date 4 March 2011 otherwise your enrolment at the University of Canberra will be discontinued. There are no extensions after this date.
Please drop into the Student Centre (with your tax file number) and fill in the form before it is too late!
