This service is available 24 hours 7 days each week.
Security unlock the buildings on each work day and upon pre-arranged requests. They also lock buildings at the end of each day.
Security may be contacted at all times for reporting suspicious activities, thefts, threats, forced entry. Security officers wear distinctive uniforms and carry an identity card.
Security Escort Service
An escort service is available from rooms to car parks and bus stops upon request. A number of Unisafe security phones are available on the outside of buildings for such calls.
Keys
When joining the University you may be issued with a set of keys to access the required areas of your employment.
Keys may be issued to you, on your signature and by prior advice of your department, by the Security Office but may be issued to you by your own area. Security will not reissue duplicate keys without the authorisation of appropriate personnel in your department. New issue of keys takes several days.
Please complete and email the signed form to security@canberra.edu.au. You will be advised when the key is ready for collection from the Security Office
Staff Cards
Staff are also issued with a staff card on commencement. Your staff card enables access to access-controlled buildings if required in the course of your work. To gain entry out of hours your staff card must be produced to Security officers on request.
Security Checks
Out of hours ad-hoc security checks are carried out, again your staff card is accepted as evidence of identity.
Lost Property
The Security Office is the repository of Lost Property. All property found should be presented to the Office.
Lost property can be claimed by producing evidence of ownership. The Office is open between 8 am and 4 pm
