SEASU Student Workshops

Each semester the Student Equity and Support Unit (SEASU) run a series of free, interactive, enjoyable workshops and activities that facilitate the development of the whole student through programs, resources and support services. Our aim is to provide opportunities that enhance cross-cultural understanding, promote a lifestyle of wellness, encourage personal growth and help students to engage with peers, faculty and staff on campus and in the wider community.

University is all about learning - what you're learning in your course of study, and what you're learning about yourself, others and the world around you.

SEASU Student Workshop Series:

CULTURAL ADJUSTMENT: Living and Learning in Australia

It is not easy to live and study in a new country. Moving away from home and living apart from family, friends and all that is familiar can be a challenging experience.

This interactive workshop series will provide you with all the tips you need to make a smooth transition to your new environment and successfully adjust to your new home away from home.

HEALTHY BODY, HEALTHY MIND:
If you live well, you’ll study well.

The Healthy Body, Healthy Mind series aims to provide participants with relevant and practical information on the following topics:

  • Diet & nutrition- simple, healthy meals in minutes
  • physical activities
  • stress management
  • emotional wellbeing

GET SMART SERIES
: Help with university and life matters.

The Get Smart series is designed to assist you with basic life skills that you need outside of the classroom, such as:

  • savvy saving and money management
  • living and renting in the ACT
  • time management
  • communicating with influence

ARTS AND HOBBIES:
Learn, experiment and be creative!

The Arts and Hobbies series is designed for students who wish to learn a creative skill or experiment with art, craft or language. These short courses will enable you to start your own projects and pursue your own creative paths while in a fun, social environment. There is no experience necessary, just a curious mind and willingness to get messy!

GETTING CONNECTED
(with people)

While studying is your main purpose, getting involved in the University and the campus community is a great way to enhance your student experience at UC, develop new skills and widen your circle of friends.

Faceback

Faceback is all about putting the ‘Face’ back into student social networking. Don’t miss out on vital opportunities to get back to the basics of ‘face to face’ communication and interaction. Drop in to Faceback and make personal connections with fellow students you may otherwise not have an opportunity to meet.

Speak Up!

Speak Up! is UC’s exciting new student social language learning group.

If you are interested in learning to speak another language or want to practice basic language skills you already have, then Speak Up! is the program for you. Speak Up! groups will be offered in a range of languages such as: Arabic, English, French, Indonesian, Japanese, Spanish and Turkish.

DAY TRIPS AND WEEKEND OUTINGS

A variety of day trips and weekend outings will be on offer throughout the year. Check website for details.
