What’s the deal? In 2008 Arscott House will be managed by the University of Canberra Students’ Association in Partnership with the University. We have some exciting changes planned over the next year or two for Arscott, including upgrades to all the rooms and common spaces. What’s the rent going to be? $220.00 per week. This will include breakfast and dinner, served daily at the Refectory. What are the rules going to be?We will be working with the RSO and the university to develop a completely new set of rules for living at Arscott House over the next couple of months, we want them to be simple to understand and able to be followed. We know ressies is about having some fun, but we also need to make sure that people are safe, and that the investment we are making in upgrades is protected. What about cleaning? Yeah, we will arrange to have the bathrooms and common areas cleaned, you will have to be responsible for your own room though (we’ll be checking a couple of times a semester to make sure that the rooms aren’t too grotty). What about SR’s? Ah, that’s another thing we plan on changing, we are looking for 9 people to act as floor leaders in 2008, they will be responsible for convening a fortnightly floor meeting and dealing with any issues on the floor, and making sure that things don’t get too out of hand. In return we will give you free rent, and training in all kinds of useful stuff. If you’re interested get in touch. OK, I want to live at Arscott next year, what do I do? Apply on-line, just like normal, for this year the university is taking care of the applications for us (thanks guys) and we will go from there. Can I stay at Arscott over the summer vacation? Unfortunately not. We have decided not to offer vacation accommodation this year as we need to spend the time on the renovations. If you require accommodation over the summer period, you can contact CLV. Want more info? Contact us at arscott@theucsa.org.au and we will try to answer your questions. |
