Higher Degrees by Research: Policy and Procedures (the Gold Book)

Higher degrees by research: policy and procedures (the Gold Book) sets out University policy and practice relating to doctor of philosophy (PhD), professional doctorate by research and masters by research programs and candidature. 

This edition of the Gold Book supersedes the version published in January 1999.

The Gold Book consists of seven Parts:

Academic Board approved parts of the new Gold Book progressively from June 2002.

In accordance with Academic Board resolution, this document came into effect on 1 January 2003 for students commencing studies in a course after 1 January 2003. Requirements also apply to continuing students who commenced their enrolment before 2003 except where otherwise indicated or required by University legislation or policy.
