Our Research

Frances Shannon, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)

Welcome

The University of Canberra has a dynamic, innovative and collaborative research culture with a focus on applied research in areas aligned with the needs of our local community as well as national and international research priorities. Our research is carried out in partnership with national and international organisations in the academic, government and private sectors.

Our areas of research strength are supported within two University Research Centres, the Institute for Applied Ecology and the National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM) as well as a number of cross-faculty research centres. The University also hosts the headquarters of two Cooperative Research Centres, the e-Water CRC and Invasive Animals CRC.

We are excited about our capacity to provide a high quality research environment where early career researchers (http://www.canberra.edu.au/ucresearch) and research students (http://www.canberra.edu.au/research-students) can flourish and prepare for careers in diverse work environments.

Our strategic goal for research at UC is to perform in the top half of Australian universities on per capita measures by 2013. Our performance over the last few years has moved us rapidly in this direction and the academic renewal program of the past year will translate into further improvement in our research output.

I invite you to read more about our research and would be pleased to talk to you if you were interested in joining the University as a researcher, student or research partner.
