Information for Potential Participants
About the Research Project
• The research aims to investigate the effect of different types of upper body exercise on Lymphoedema status.
• The results are expected to identify the most suitable type of exercise to improve upper body physical function in women with breast cancer related Lymphoedema.

What Does Participation Involve?
• Three months of twice weekly resistance training sessions at your closest Club Pink (Belconnen or Tuggeranong).
• Assessment of Lymphoedema status, body composition, muscular strength and endurance, fatigue and quality of life before and after the intervention.
Benefits of Participating
• Individual instruction of correct exercise technique and supervision of exercise sessions specifically targeting improvements in upper body physical function by certified professionals.
• Lymphoedema status assessment through bioimpedance spectroscopy, dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and arm circumference.
• Assessment of whole body composition as well as bone mineral density using DEXA.
• All provided at no cost to participants.
• Opportunity to be involved in a free 12 week supervised exercise program.
Who is Eligible to Participant?
• Women with a clinical diagnosis of stable breast cancer related Lymphoedema.
• No other medical conditions that would limit exercise.
• All ages eligible.
