Our Principles
Our core principle is to procure goods and services at the best value for money in an open, transparent and accountable way.
We seek innovative solutions to meet the University's requirements whilst also building strong supplier relationships.
This principle requires competition and a comparison between all potential suppliers, including an evaluation of the benefits and costs of each proposal through the 'whole-of-life' of the good or the service required.
Achieving Value for Money
Open and effective competition is a key element in achieving value for money. All potential suppliers are afforded the same opportunities to compete for UC business and be treated equitably.
All procurement activities are run fairly and honestly to establish an environment of mutual trust and respect. An ethichal approach is also maintained, and encompasses honesty, integrity, probity, diligence, fairness, trust, respect and consistency.
Confidentiality
All tender information is treated as Commercial-In-Confidence.
The University of Canberra is not obligated to release confidential information, or information that may impede competition.
Efficient, Effective, Competitive and Transparent process
The University is committed to conducting the procurement process for goods and services in an efficient, effective, competitive and transparent manner.
Efficiency within the procurement process requires the University to use the right procurement strategy to secure goods or services commensurate with the size and type of the goods or services required.
Effectiveness is achieved when the procurement process for goods or services is designed to attract the best outcome.
To encourage competition all potential suppliers must be treated equally and equitably.
Transparency allows the procurement process to be conducted in a manner which promotes fairness, honesty, diligence and integrity, by assuring that the processes is conducted in a manner which supports the University’s policies and procedures.
