AUQA Audits
The Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) is an independent, not-for-profit national agency that promotes, audits, and reports on quality assurance in Australian higher education.
AUQA was formally established in March 2000 by the Ministerial Council on Education, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) [now entitled Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs (MCEECDYA)].
AUQA commenced audits in 2001 with University of New South Wales and Charles Darwin University participating in the trial audit. The first cycle of audits with all Australian Universities was between 2002-2007. AUQA cycle one audits were a whole of institution audit utilising a fitness for purpose approach.
AUQA cycle two audits commenced in 2008 using the same approach used in cycle one. However, rather than undertaking a whole of institution audit, cycle two audits focused on two themes with internationalisation as one mandatory theme for all Universities.
AUQA commenced cycle one audits of private higher education colleges in 2008.
