Bus, Bike & Fleet Vehicles

There are a number of sustainable transport options available for accessing and moving about campus.

Cycling is a quick, easy, healthy and parking hassle free way to travel to and from campus.

Bicycle hoops are installed across campus near most University buildings. Three bike shelters are available for use by students and staff, located adjacent the tennis courts near building 10, to the southern side of building 9 and the western entrance to building 7 courtyard. Secure shelters are also available for residents of Cooper Lodge and CLV within their residential precincts. Users are advised to ensure they bring appropriate D locks to secure their bike to the locks. bike shelter 2

A green cycle ramp has been installed at the stairs leading from the road near oval 1, up to student central and the concourse. Bicycle repair equipment is installed adjacent the Foundation Stone near Student Central for your convenience. Current landscaping works to the southern end of the concourse will provide future cycle access through the Heartland of the campus.

End of trip shower facilities are available across the campus, including a large change and locker room within building 4.

Scrivener Bicycles

The University provides Scrivener (Building 26) staff with access to two bicycles for intra-campus travel. Access to the bicycles and helmets are through the Scrivener reception.

The University of Canberra is well serviced by buses, with over 18 routes travelling to the College Street stations during the week and 8 on weekends. Specific information on these routes, as well as timetables, fares and network information is available from the ACTION Bus website

Bus Tickets

ACTION MY WAY cards can be purchased and recharged at the UCU Shop on campus, most newsagents and Canberra Connect shopfronts. These cards can be recharged online and over the phone. To obtain a student concession MY WAY card, complete an application form at the point of purchase.

On the bus you place your card against the MY WAY Card Reader both when getting on and getting off the bus (to ensure you receive a reduced rate per trip).

Alternatively, you may pay for bus trips with cash on board the bus.

ACTION's NXTBUS service tracks the location of your bus in real time. Every bus stop has an ID number. You can search for bus stop IDs on the NXTBUS website. NXTBUS can also tell you if the bus has a bike rack, easy access or is delayed or cancelled via SMS.

Bike and ride

Bicycle enclosures, lockers and bicycle hoops are located at many convenient places around Canberra, providing links with major bus routes. Access to bicycle enclosures is via a registered MyWay card. Most ACTION buses are fitted with a bicycle carrier on the front of the bus with space for two bicycles.

Park and ride

Park and Ride facilities allow users to park their car, and transfer to an ACTION bus. All Park and Ride facilities are well lit and most sites offer weather resistant bus shelters.

Accessible buses

ACTION provides easy access buses and services for hearing, vision and mobility impaired users.

Fleet vehicles are available to both Academic and Professional staff in the course of their employment. Bookings are made through the security and traffic office (building 8), where you will need to provide evidence of licence prior to collecting keys.
