Physiotherapy Clinic

Aims

This service aims to:

  • Provide both Master of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Physiotherapy students with the opportunity to gain hands on clinical experience by providing physiotherapy treatments under supervision by a qualified physiotherapist
  • Provide physiotherapy treatments to patients who are likely to experience difficulty accessing private or public physiotherapy services due to cost, location or timeliness

Services

Services include treatment of:

  • Pre and post joint surgery e.g. knee arthroscopy, knee reconstruction, hip replacement
  • Post fracture, acute injury, joint sprain or muscle strain
  • Sports injuries
  • Back and neck pain
  • Overuse and chronic injuries such as patellofemoral pain, shoulder impingement, repetitive strain injury, achilles tendonitis
  • Postural pain

The clinic provides a student led service at a minimal cost ($30 or $20 for concession rate).

As services are provided by students under supervision, no rebate is available through private health funds, Medicare or third party providers.

Due to the nature of the students on placement at the Student Led Physiotherapy Clinic we are not able to see the following presentations:

  • People who have been injured either at work or due to their work
  • People who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents
  • People who have been injured in a retail environment due to possible negligence
  • Children under the age of 10 years who have issues in achieving their developmental milestones
