Canberra Specialist Medical Centre

A new state-of-the-art multi-purpose medical facility will rise at the University of Canberra and open to the public in 2018.

Construction of the Canberra Specialist Medical Centre (CSMC) is now underway at the University’s Bruce campus. It is the latest addition to the rapidly developing Health Precinct on the northern flank of the University. This new centre will expand on the range of services offered within the Precinct, including the Health Hub, which has been operating since 2014, and the soon-to-open University of Canberra Hospital.

The CSMC will be home to the Integrated Oncology Centre, a state-of-the-art cancer care facility operated by ICON Cancer Care, Australia's largest private provider of cancer care. This facility will increase the availability of radiation and medical oncology services to the ACT and surrounding region, as well as provide significant training and research opportunities for the University's staff and students.

Radiology services in the region will be further boosted by the presence of QScan, which will take up residency at the CSMC. Additional tenancy and speciality suites will be available at the centre for suitable providers wanting to offer their services from the University campus.

The University of Canberra will utilise the facility to deliver student-led allied health services to the community. This will provide an enriched experience for students to undertake practical work opportunities.

The CSMC is scheduled to open in 2018. Development updates can be found in our Campus Improvements.
