The Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra
Orchestral Players; Principal 2nd Violin; Principal Viola

Details: We seek to offer orchestral opportunities to instrumentalists, particularly undergraduates without professional orchestra experience. The Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra is looking for orchestral players for a concert at St. Mary Magdalene's Church, Islington, at 6pm on Saturday March 17th, 2012, at 6pm on behalf of The Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra.
The repertoire will include Granados Twelve Spanish Dances with rehearsals on at 6.30-9.30pm on Tuesday 13th March and 4-5pm on the day of the concert. The concert and rehearsals will all take place at St. Mary Magdalene's Church, Islington, N7 8LT.
This is a voluntary opportunity for experience but expenses of £75 will be provided. The principal second violin and principal viola player will receive £100.

Sinfonia d’Amici
Don Giovanni London Auditions

Details: Auditions in London on Thursday 23rd February for the roles of Don Giovanni (Baritone) and Donna Anna (Soprano).
Sinfonia d'Amici was formed in January 2009 out of ex-London Schools Symphony Orchestra players and is now widely established across London, Cambridge and France. The orchestra leads the annual Festival of concerts in in Aquitaine. Semi-staged performances of Don Giovanni will form the core of next year's festival. These will take place at venues in St Emilion, Gensac and Bergerac.
London rehearsal period Monday 20th August to Friday 31st August. Tour to Aquitane, France 1st Sept – 8th Sept. London performance on 9th Sept. Note this is a voluntary opportunity for experience only, though all expenses will be paid.

Scottish Music Centre
Thomas Wilson Prize for Composition

Details: To mark the tenth anniversary of the death of composer Thomas Wilson, a composition prize has been inaugurated in association with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
The Thomas Wilson Prize for Composition is intended for composers of 25 years of age or younger. Works have to be written for solo guitar and should last between six and ten minutes. Composers will be invited to choose a theme from six incidental works commissioned from Wilson by the BBC.
A jury will select a shortlist of three entries to be played by students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland during the PLUG Festival in April 2012. The jury will then select a winner to be awarded the prize of £500.

Armonico Consort, Coventry
AC Academy Children’s' Choir Music Leader

Details: Armonico Consort is currently looking to appoint an experienced music leader for their AC Academy children’s choir in Coventry. The position will involve a weekly session during term time to prepare the children for a performance each term at a concert venue in the area. The job will involve preparing for each session in advance, learning the music and working with the accompanist to ensure a smooth delivery of the material. Each session is 90 minutes. You will be expected to conduct the AC Academy concerts which are once a term.
The applicant must be confident, good with children, inspiring and have a great sense of humour. The work that we do as a charity is vast in regards to music education for children and there are many more exciting work opportunities within the charity if you are successful with your application. Details: Westminster Abbey is seeking a Music Assistant to join the staff of its busy Music Department, which manages the activities of the renowned Choir of Westminster Abbey and plans the Abbey’s many concerts, organ recitals and other musical events.
This new part-time post (3 days per week) has been created to provide support in the day-to-day running of the department. Duties will include dealing with general correspondence and enquiries, assisting with the administration of concerts, tours and other projects, providing administrative support to key members of staff, and assisting in the production of Music Department publications.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, preferably in music, and will have experience of working in a similarly busy and challenging role in a classical music or arts organisation. Excellent IT and communication skills are required, along with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good general musical knowledge and the ability to read music are essential, along with sound administrative skills. Knowledge of church music would be an advantage. The salary is £13,704.15 per annum. Interviews are expected to take place on Wednesday 7 March.

Tarisio Fine Instruments and Bows
Instrument Purchase Matching Grant Program

Details: Tarisio is launching a new program to aid young musicians in purchasing fine instruments and bows. From March 2011 Tarisio will award up to $10,000 (£6,000) of matching funds to one winning applicant for each Tarisio auction of fine instruments and bows. Currently there are four auctions per year, two in London (March and October) and two in New York (April and October).
To apply you must be a music student or graduate under the age of. Applications open approximately six months before each auction and close once the auction catalogue is published online. A winner will be chosen at random and notified promptly after the application deadline. If a suitable instrument or bow is not purchased, the winner may roll over the grant for 12 months.
