Choir of Limited Expectations - The aim is to improve both singing ability and music literacy and to have fun doing both. Come and join if you have completed a Tone Deaf Society course or if you can more or less sing in tune already. New students welcome. Fridays 11am Belconnen Arts Centre
Rich Healthy Voice - Find your voice; train it; keep it healthy. Stance, breathing, support, placement, range and repertoire. Voice development and song repertoire for those who can sing in tune, may have sung in choirs, and who want to learn to sing better. Fridays 12 noon Belconnen Arts Centre
Piano with Ten Fingers - Are you a one-finger pianist; did you have lessons as a child; have you always wanted to play the piano but have never had lessons? In this group tuition class you will be introduced to the easy ways to gain familiarity with the keyboard and music reading. Fridays 2pm Belconnen Arts Centre
Music Reading (Music Literacy) - Imagine trying to make sense of a book without being fluent with alphabet letters or with basic constructions. Music is much more fun and has greater depth of meaning for those who can read the printed page and write a few notes. The course starts at a basic level for those with little or no understanding of written notes and includes preliminary music theory. Fridays 3pm Belconnen Arts Centre.
Music Writing (Music Literacy) – Music Writing compliments Music Reading. You will be taught to construct chords, voice leading, harmonic implications of melody writing and musical structures. New students who already have fluent music reading skills can start at this level. This course continues into individual lessons in Composition. Wednesdays 10am UC 5C46
Uncovering Music – now just listen to this! Focusing on individual composers, their styles and their music, this listening-based course will provide the foundation for acquiring a knowledge and appreciation of music. Students will be guided through representational works – playing in the background of the social, economic, and historical influences of their times in order to understand the relationship to other music and the essence of their appeal. Fridays 11am UC 5C46
UC Chorale - Tuesday evening community choir meeting weekly to learn part singing, reading, voice production, and to enjoy singing with others an eclectic repertoire. No Audition. At least two concerts a year, the second one at the end of the year combined with other UC Choirs. Tuesdays 7pm UC 5C46
