Courses and individual tuition are available during ACT School terms, with four terms per year.

Piano with 10 Fingers: - Theatrette Friday 11 - 12 Open to new registrations.
Theatrette Thursday 6 - 7 Open to new registrations.
Are you a one-finger pianist; have you always wanted to play the piano but never had lessons; did you have lessons as a child and forgotten it all? In this group tuition class for beginners you will be introduced to the easy ways to gain familiarity with the piano.This course is designed for those completely new to the piano. Rasa Daukus. Piano with 10 Fingers - Stepping UP!:* - Theatrette Friday 2 - 3:30 Open to continuing students & new registrations.
If you can already read music and play a tune or two (with 10 fingers), it's time to step up. This is a fun group tuition class for continuing beginner and early intermediate pianists, focussing on improving technique and building a solo and duet repertoire. Rasa Daukus. Course Fee per term $300

Imagine trying to make sense of a book without being fluent with alphabet letters or with basic constructions. Music is much more fun and has greater depth of meaning for those who can read the printed page and write a few notes. The course starts at a basic level for those with little or no understanding of written notes and includes preliminary music theory. Suitable for those learning singing or a musical instrument, or with an interest in music and wish to gain a greater understanding. Now just listen to this! Focusing on individual composers, their styles and their music, this listening-based course will provide the foundation for acquiring a knowledge and appreciation of music. Students will be guided through representational works – playing in the background of the social, economic, and historical influences of their times in order to understand the relationship to other music and the essence of their appeal. Ever been told not to sing; have you got a really horrid singing voice; are you not able to hold a tune? Gentle tuition to get your voice working properly in a friendly, supportive environment. Rohan Thatcher. Course Fee per term $200
Rich Healthy Voice:* - Theatrette Monday 6:30 - 7:30 Open to new students, or those with some singing experience.
Find your voice; train it; keep it healthy. Stance, breathing, support, placement, range and repertoire. Voice development and song repertoire for those who can sing in tune, may have sung in choirs, and who want to learn to sing better. Rohan Thatcher. Course Fee per term $200
Semi Tone Deaf Clinic: - Theatrette Monday 7:30 - 8:30 Open to new registrations.
If you are you progressing from the Tone Deaf Clinic, then this is the next step in your journey. Or, if you understand some singing basics and perhaps have had a few lessons, then this is the course for you. A step on from absolute beginners. Rohan Thatcher. Course Fee per term $200

This course will provide training in the art of performing rhythm, reading melody, and harmonic perception. Based upon the teachings of the Scandinavian school. Andrew Koll. Course Fee per term $200
Music Writing*: - Theatrette Tuesday 11 - 12 Open to continuing students

This course introduces the elements of music in its notated form, Scales, Keys, Intervals, Chords, Cadences, Tonality, Harmonic function, Tuning and Intonation. Andrew Koll. Course Fee per term $200
The Art of Counterpoint*: - Theatrette Monday 10 - 11 Open to new registrations
Theatrette Monday 11 - 12 Open to continuing students
Inversion,l Stretto, Augmentation, Diminution, Double Counterpoint at the tenth and twelfth, Rectus-Inversus, Retrograde. Study the abstract compositional artistry in the contrapuntal works of JS Bach. Andrew Koll. Course Fee per term $200
Chorister Class: Theatrette Wednesday 10 - 11:30
A class for choral singers - learn the finer points of singing choral works. This course will improve any choral singers performance. Andrew Koll. Course Fee per term $300
The Sacred Music*: - Theatrette Wednesday 3:30 - 4:30
This study group will explore the wondrous universe of Bach's sacred music, including his Cantatas, Passions, Masses, Motets, Chorales and Organ music. Andrew Koll. Course Fee per term $200
Guitar Works: - Theatrette Wednesday 7:00 - 8:00 Classical Guitar tuition with Callum Henshaw.
Group tuition for adults and juniors. Course Fee per term $200
Community Choir: - Room 5C46 Wednesday 7:30 - 9:30 An A-Capella auditioned choir conducted by Rohan Thatcher.
Course Fee per term $125
Individual Instrument Lessons for Adults and Juniors (6-17 years) in Canberra
Individual Tuition - Adults and Juniors $350 per half hour payable for 10 week term. Extended lessons are $525 per 45 minute lesson or $700 per one hour lesson. Note: Extended lessons must be agreed by your teacher. The appropriate payment will be processed once approval by the teacher has been obtained.
Piano: - Individual weekly half-hour to one-hour lessons are available for beginners to advanced, adults and juniors. Tutors Rasa Daukus, BMus, AMusA, MMTA; Andrew Rumsey, BMus; Christine Thompson BEd, LTCL. Lesson times to suit individuals.
Guitar: - Individual weekly half-hour to one-hour lessons are available for beginners to advanced, adults and juniors. Tutor Matt Withers, MMus (ANU), and member of the Golden Key Society - $350 per term; Associate Tutor, Callum Henshaw (completing Classical Guitar studies at ANU) - $300 per term. Lesson times to suit individuals.
Singing: - Individual weekly half hour lessons for beginners and for those with previous experience who want to learn to sing well. Tutors: Rohan Thatcher BMus (Sydney); Misako Piper, BA; Lesson times to suit individuals.
CHOIRS
UC Chorale (non-auditioned)
Tuesdays 7pm UC 5C46. Evening rehearsal of this community choir meeting weekly to learn part singing, reading, voice production, and to enjoy singing with others. No Audition.
Wednesdays 12.30pm Theatrette. Lunch time rehearsal of this community choir rehearsing weekly. No audition. Learn part singing, reading, and voice production.
Chorale fees are under review for 2012
General Information regarding Courses
Courses are generally designed as one weekly, hour long courses and to run for one year; the course cost for first term in 2012 is $200; however, Stepping UP! which is the second year of the Piano with 10 Fingers course, and the new Chorister course are scheduled for 1.5 hours per week and hence cost $300 per term.
