The Frank Frankie, The Newspaper That Helps People

Charlotte Pass, age 12

cover

The Frank Frankie by Ingrid Jonach

This book is very amusing and full of funny phrases and jokes.

It is based on a nine-year-old girl named Anne Googanstein, nicknamed Frankie, who has just finished grade four at school.

She is given a school project about what they want to be when they grow up, as a start to grade five. Frankie wants to be a reporter. She creates a newspaper called the ‘Frank Frankie' and soon gets some new friends to help her with it.

The characters of the book are well described and full of life. There is Frankie (the main character of the story). There's also Billy, who is Frankie's best friend, then there is Ima, a neat teacher's pet who is actually pretty good at drawing, and Rodney, Frankie's worst enemy who calls everyone mean names, but turns out to be a not-so-mean person.

I would recommend this book to children from the ages of 8 – 12 years, as they would be able to relate to the characters in the book.

In conclusion, I think this is a very well written book. It is funny, with a good story line. I will recommend it to all of my friends so that they can enjoy it too.
