UC Centre offers only degree of it’s kind in Australia
The University of Canberra Centre for Customs and Excise Studies is the only tertiary organisation in the world to offer a Post-Graduate Degree in International Customs Law and Administration.
The success of the degree was highlighted at the recent July graduation ceremony with Custom’s Officers from around the world graduating.

William Boyd is a Customs officer with over 21 years experience in the UK now based in South Africa working with the Societe Generale DeSurveilance (SGS).
“My company is involved in developing business solutions for several African countries.
“We are involved in the implementation and maintenance of a non-intrusive container scanner. The company can establish a project in any country in Africa to allow them to scan and determine exactly what is in every container shipped in or out of that country.
“This Masters is the only one I found World-Wide that related to a real Customs environment”, he said.
Stephen Ho is based in Australian Customs with over 13 years experience and is the first Australian Customs Officer to be awarded the Medal of Excellence. “I undertook the Masters as I believe the Customs Service face’s new challenges and it is important to keep your knowledge updated.
“This is the only course of its kind in Australia and the only one to give me a broad perspective on modern customs issues,” he said.
William Boyd and Stephen Ho completed a Master of International Customs Law and Administration online through the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies.
Australian Customs Service officials attended the University of Canberra graduation ceremony held in the Great Hall at Parliament House.
