UC showcases student opportunities at Canberra Careers Market

Graham Robinson

8 August 2008: The University of Canberra has hailed the recent Canberra Careers Market as a huge success.

The annual event attracted over 6000 students from schools across the ACT and NSW. University of Canberra Senior Domestic Recruitment Officer, Alicia Thomson was pleased with the level of inquiry by students about University of Canberra courses.

“I am particularly pleased by the amount of interest students had in our new courses, including the Bachelor of Midwifery, Justice Studies and the Building and Construction Management course.

“It was interesting to see that students from year 9 onwards were considering the options available in higher tertiary education,” she said.

The University attended all three sessions of the careers market which was staged at the AIS Arena.

The Canberra Careers Market is organised by the Rotary Club of Canberra City and is supported by the ACT Government.

“Students showed a significant interest in discussing course options that would eventuate in employment, and it is good news that the University has once again scored top marks in The Good Universities Guide, 2009 edition for its graduate’s ability to get a job.

“We certainly are looking forward to returning to the careers market next year,” said Miss Thomson.
