Professor Stephen Parker, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra said “I am very pleased that we are strengthening our relationship with Swinburne. They are an institution celebrating their first 100 years, with a growing reputation for the quality and employability of their graduates and for their innovative research. Their current Vice-Chancellor has done a terrific job and is someone with whom I am very comfortable co-operating”.
“This is an important agreement that signals a close tie between two Universities in capital cities: Canberra as the nation's capital and Melbourne as the capital of the state of Victoria” said Professor Carole Kayrooz, Pro Vice Chancellor of Education.
The University of Canberra and Swinburne University have also joined with a number of European universities to apply for a European Union and Commonwealth supported staff and student exchange. In each of five academic fields two-three staff from Australia and four staff from Europe will participate in the mobility program.
“The current collaborations are intended to mark the beginning of many more co ventures,” said Professor Kayrooz. "We look forward to working with our Swinburne colleagues on future teaching and research."
