Ms Comer says the best thing about studying at the University of Canberra were the opportunities available to students to enhance their university experience.
She studied for a semester at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada which counted towards her degree. She also completed an internship with the University’s Media and Communications Office and worked casually in the Events team.
“I was able to contribute to the University as a student representative and develop my skills practically,” she said.
Ms Comer also received a Deans Excellence Award and participated in the Public Relations Institute of Australia student challenge last year, where the team she lead won the award for best public relations/ communications strategy for a non-profit client.
Her thesis will look at the impact that 21st century attacks had on generation Y and whether this has influenced them to join the Australian Army.
“I wanted to do something that was practical and something that I was interested in. I also think the topic could be valuable for the Australian Army and Defence Force,” she said.
Ms Comer would also like to do further post-graduate study and possibly a PhD down the track.
“Education is one thing that cannot be taken away from a person and I enjoy learning,” she said.
