Medals bonanza in first days of Games

19 March 2006: University of Canberra students excelled at the Commonwealth Games grabbing five medals between them over the first three days.

Joshua Jefferis added to his silver in the Men‚s Artistic Gymnastics Team Final with gold in the Individual All Round.

"It's the highlight of my life, and it will probably change my life,"
Jefferis said.

Jefferis was second behind team-mate Philippe Rizzo going into the final rotation but after nailing the High Bar was able to leapfrog him in the final standings.

Jefferis is also competing in several apparatus finals on Monday and Tuesday night.

In the pool Jade Edmistone won silver in an Australian trifecta in the Women's 50m Breastroke Final.

Fellow swimmer Alice Mills won two bronze medals in the Women's 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly final.

Andrew Richards qualified for the Men's 200m Butterfly final, finishing seventh.
