17 March 2006: Joshua Jefferis won silver at the Commonwealth Games last night.

Jefferis, a member of the five the man gymnastics team, put in a heroic effort as the gymnasts challenged eventual gold medal winners Canada every step of the way.

Newspaper and television pundits raved about Jefferis' near faultless performance and the human biology student was delighted to end his day's work by taking home silver.

"Silver's shinier than gold," he told Channel Nine shortly after last night's medal presentation.
