Close shave marks end of Movember

Edward O'Daly

12 December 2006: Advertising/marketing lecturer Jonathan Wills' top lip is getting reacquainted with fresh air after 'Movember' - a month-long charity event that saw formerly clean-shaven men grow moustaches to raise cash and awareness for men's health issues.

There's still time to donate money after reading about his experiences below.

Did you shave your moustache off as soon as November was over?
Yes

Why?
It was very disconcerting when my wife giggled when we were in bed (more than usual)

How does it feel to be free of it?
Great, I feel reborn - like a child feeling a fresh breeze for the first time

Were there any surprises about having a moustache? Did it scratch, tickle or obstruct your lunch more than expected?
No, there were no food disasters. It tickled others more than me.

Did people treat you differently?
People were actually a little more guarded, I must've looked suspect.

How much money did you raise?
$438 from the generous people at UC - thanks to everyone that donated. Globally, Movember raised $5.8 million this year.

Can people still give you money?
Yes, if they go to www.movember.com.au they can sponsor me online using my registration number: 20829.

Any plans to resurrect the mo in the future?
Yeah baby - the mo will be back bigger and better in November 2007
