Monitor meets...
Chris Lennard

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Canberra?
I am originally from country NSW (near Dubbo), moving to Braidwood at a young age where I completed my schooling.   I lived in Queanbeyan while completing a BSc (Hon) and PhD at the ANU, and then spent 8 years at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland before returning to Australia in 1994.   I have lived in Canberra since that time.

What do you do at the University?
Professor of forensic studies, School of Health Sciences, and director of the National Centre for Forensic Studies (a centre established through an agreement between the University of Canberra, the Canberra Institute of Technology, and the Australian Federal Police).

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear University of Canberra?
Small, friendly, community-based university.

What is your favourite thing about Canberra?
It has everything that you need but it is not a large, intimidating city.   You are never more than 20 minutes from anywhere and it is a great place to bring up a family.

If you could change anything about Canberra what would it be?
Move it to the coast - somewhere around Jervis Bay would be nice!

What are you: reading / watching / listening to?
- Reading computer magazines and forensic journals
- Watching Thank God You're Here
- Listening to Rogue Traders, Nelly Furtado and Evanescence

Name three famous people (alive/dead/fictional) you would like to have
dinner with and where in Canberra you'd take them?

Alive - Patricia Cornwell
Dead - Jack the Ripper
Fictional - Sherlock Holmes
I'd take them to Montezumas Mexican restaurant in Phillip.

What couldn’t you live without and why?
My home computer (which I built myself) and internet access.   I enjoy using computers, both for work and relaxation.   The internet, online learning, and the informal/immediate nature of emails are an enormous benefit.   We just need to find a solution for spam!

Where did you go on your last holiday?
Down the South Coast, staying in a holiday cabin not far from Merimbula.

How would you spend your ideal weekend?
Fishing from a boat in the Great Lakes or out to sea from Forster, NSW, on a warm sunny day.   That is good enough, but catching a few good fish would be a bonus!
