Students receive prizes for excellence in IT

The School of Information Sciences and Engineering at the University of Canberra will be holding a prize presentation ceremony on Tuesday, 19 December starting at 10.00 am in 11B24.

This special event will reward the high calibre of graduates in IT that are entering the workforce from the University of Canberra.   2006 winners are as follows:

Bachelor of Business Informatics (BBI) Prize Winners

The BBI is an informatics focus, but also includes compulsory units from a range of other disciplines e.g. accounting, management, sociology, statistics and law.   It is this diversity that makes the BBI an interesting and challenging course for students, and provides students with a diverse range of experience.

The winner of the DEWR prize for the best performed graduate in 2006 is Katarina Franjic.

The other two DEWR prizes in the BBI have been awarded to Ms Huma Mittro and Mr Dimitar Dojcinoski-Laktinjski .

Huma Mittro

In Huma's case, this was the final 3 semesters after receiving credit for her previous study in Pakistan.   Overseas students normally take time to become used to studying in Australian universities but Huma adapted very quickly to become one of the BBI's high performing students.

Huma achieved excellent results in a wide range of areas.

Dimitar Dojcinoski-Laktinjski

Dimitar is another student who can be very proud of his achievements.   Dimitar joined us from UC College having completed UC-Start.   Dimitar also achieved excellent results in a wide range of areas.

The three students have set a high standard for future graduates to follow to be recipients of the DEWR award for BBI students.

Acumen Alliance Prize for Outstanding Student in IT and Business Alignment in the Master of Business Informatics

Ms Suzanne Adams

Suzanne has completed the new Masters of Business Informatics course.  She achieved a grade point average of 6.375 - three units with a HD and 5 units with DI. This was an excellent achievement in the course. Suzanne was also active in working with other students and helping them during the course of her studies.

Elsie Hope Solly Prize

Ms Sally Schatzman

Sally is an excellent student and obtained outstanding grades in Mathematical Methods and Mathematics for Information Sciences. This result is all the more remarkable as Sally's degree is in "Primary Education" and not in "Information Sciences". Sally well deserves the award of the Elsie Solly Prize.
